Child Abuse Prevention Month 2017

Child Abuse Prevention is an issue many of us are personally passionate about and this year is especially meaningful for our members due to the work being done across the state to fix our broken Child Protection Services system.  For that reason, the board decided to participate in Child Abuse Prevention Month and to come together to collect donations for this incredibly important and worthy cause.

Our efforts locally are just as important as the work being done on a statewide level. Child Advocacy Centers of Texas is on the front line of combating child abuse and helping victims of abuse to rebuild their lives.  With 70 centers around the state and nearly 43,000 children served each year, their need for supplies, volunteers, and funds is critical.

Please join us this year in giving back to our local Travis County Center for Child Protection (TCCCP) in a way that will have a profound impact on a child’s life.

After visiting with TCCCP, we are attempting to meet these needs:

  • “Project Graduation Kits”

A Life Kit contains the basic items needed to start an apartment or dorm room for children that are aging out of the foster care system without the benefit of support.  Consider purchasing one or more of the following for our group to assemble in kits for these children:

• Clock radio with alarm • Casual plates, bowls, and cups for 4 • 11×13 frame for diploma
• Twin size sheet set • Casual flatware, set of 4 • Multi photo picture frame
• Twin size blanket/comforter • Pots and pans set • Desk lamp
• Full-size pillow • Serving spoons • Accordion folder
• Bath towels, set of 2 • Can opener
• Laundry basket • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Financial contributions to help support the overall mission and needs of TCCCP (please note Capitol Republican Women in the comments field)

If you’ve made a purchase, contact us and we will come to you for pick up anytime until May 5.  If you’d like to get involved, or have any questions, contact us at capitolrepublicanwomen.com or (512) 843-1808.

Thank you for your support – Together we can make a difference!
